Blending and Drum Filling System

Flowquip recently assisted John Winter a UK-based foundry and dental supplies company, based in Sowerby Bridge, West Yorkshire. They supply over 40 countries in Europe, Asia-pacific, South Africa, the Middle East and Northern and Central America, they manufacture many different products, including a special food grade sealant called Rocep.

JW looked to radically improve their existing Rocep blending and drum filling process but had initially struggled to find the right company to assist them until one of their suppliers recommended that they approach Flowquip.
After their initial site visit and investigation Flowquip’s technical team proposed a complete new system which would not only make the Rocep manufacturing process twice as efficient, but also very cost effective.
One of the challenges faced by Flowquip was that the Rocep product had to be mixed, heated and then accurately discharged into 6 x 220 litre drums at a temperature of 140⁰C.
To heat the product mixing vessel Flowquip supplied and installed a state of the art natural gas burner.
In order to keep the product at a constant temperature throughout the system a new stainless steel pipe network was installed which was lagged and electrically trace heated.

A high accuracy Coriolis flowmeter took care of the Rocep dispensing in conjunction with a mono-pump, air-actuated control valves and temperature transmitters.
Overall control of the system was handled by a PLC control panel with a colour touch screen HMI manufactured by Flowquip.

‘Throughout the entire specification and installation process the Flowquip team were punctual, informative and professional’,
‘Their after sale services are second to none, and I would highly recommend them’. – Russell Clamp, Quality Manager – John Winters Ltd.
